Using Boodo at home is free

There is nothing to buy in the app: no purchases, no subscription, no unlockable content. Every story in the app is available to every child using it.

Who agrees to these terms

Boodo is for children, so a parent or guardian agrees on their behalf. If you are setting Boodo up for a child, you are confirming you are old enough to enter into this agreement and that you are responsible for that child's use of it.

Connecting to a school

A school connection is optional and starts with a code an adult types in once. It causes the child's reading to be reported to that school, and it can be removed at any time from the same screen. If you did not expect a tablet to be connected to a school, remove the connection and ask the school what happened.

The stories

The stories, illustrations and recordings in Boodo belong to us and are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use inside the app. Please do not copy them out of it or redistribute them.

What Boodo is and is not

Boodo helps a child practise reading aloud. It is not an assessment, a diagnosis, or a substitute for a teacher or a specialist. Speech recognition makes mistakes, particularly with young children and with accents it has heard less of, so treat what it reports as a rough guide rather than a measurement.

Boodo is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it.

Schools

Schools using Boodo do so under a separate written agreement, which takes precedence over anything here.

Changes

We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects families using Boodo at home, we will say so in the app rather than quietly changing this page.
